Chile gives you another winter when summer arrives at home. The next season to plan for is 2027. Portillo describes its normal operating season around June through September, overlapping the North American summer. Confirm the published 2027 opening dates before booking. Portillo's seasonal overview.

Portillo and Nevados de Chillán make very different trips. Portillo brings the evening back to the hotel. Chillán adds a separate mountain base farther south, with its own backcountry guidance and access logistics. Choose the mountain first; a short trip does not need to include both.

Portillo gives the week a center

Choose Portillo if you want to settle into one hotel for the ski week. Its own après description includes the outdoor heated pool, afternoon tea, live music at the bar and a hotel nightclub. Confirm the music program for your week. Portillo après activities.

The pool, dinner and music are all close at hand. Compare room categories and the meals and skiing included in each package.

Make the transfer part of the booking

Portillo advertises transfers from Santiago airport and Santiago hotels. Request a current quote matched to the flight, luggage and accommodation dates. Confirm whether the transfer is included and whether your arrival needs an overnight stop in Santiago. Official transfer information.

Chillán is a different trip

Nevados de Chillán is a separate trip to plan. Its official mountain information places the resort in the Chillán area, well south of the Santiago approach. Consult its own access information and map before proposing a combined itinerary. Allow a separate travel leg for the transfer. Nevados de Chillán mountain information.

The resort publishes separate backcountry guidance. It asks riders to inform mountain safety staff of their intended route and their return, and stresses that terrain decisions must respond to hazards. A marked ski map, a visible track or proximity to a lift does not establish that an outside-area objective is suitable. Arrange qualified local guidance if backcountry skiing is the point of the trip. Official backcountry guidance.

When to go

Portillo's seasonal advice describes July and August as the core winter months, but that is planning context rather than a forecast for 2027. Use the resort's published dates when they are confirmed and its live conditions near departure. Portillo season guidance.
