Jackson Hole: steep terrain and a night in town

Jackson Hole gives you 4,139 vertical feet to work with, and half its terrain is classified expert. Thunder, Sublette and the tram are the names that pull strong skiers here. Casper and Après Vous give intermediate skiers their own reasons to come.
The resort's current mountain information lists 2,500 inbounds acres and a target opening of November 27, 2026. Closing is still to be determined. Upper-mountain access depends on coverage and operations.
Thunder and Sublette, with room for Casper
The resort's terrain guide puts Thunder and Sublette on the more demanding side of the mountain. Après Vous and Casper offer groomed options for intermediate skiers, while Teewinot and Eagle's Rest serve easier terrain. This is a more useful introduction than calling Jackson an experts-only resort: 40 percent of its terrain is classified intermediate.
Start with those lift areas and let the snow report decide the order. A lesson can double as an introduction to the mountain.
The Aerial Tram accesses Rendezvous Bowl when that terrain is open, as documented in the resort's tram and Sublette update. Check the current report for tram and terrain openings.
Corbet's has its own standard
Corbet's Couloir is extreme terrain for highly experienced skiers and riders. Its entrance changes with the snow, and opening status alone does not make it suitable for every expert skier.
Thunder and Sublette can carry the trip on their own. Leave Corbet's out of the plan unless the conditions and your experience suit it.
Tram Dock first, Mangy Moose for music
Tram Dock sits beneath the Aerial Tram, with patio seating, a four-sided bar and a historic tram car incorporated into the entrance. Stop here when the skiing is finished. Confirm winter opening hours.
The Mangy Moose adds a saloon, restaurant and live-music calendar in Teton Village. Choose an evening around an actual listed show if music is part of the reason you are coming.
Teton Village or Jackson?
Teton Village puts the lifts and both après options at the center of the stay. The town of Jackson is about 12 miles from the resort, making it a different base rather than an interchangeable address. For a short, skiing-heavy trip, our preference is the village if the accommodation budget allows.
A town stay can still work well: START buses connect Jackson and Teton Village. Match lodging to the actual winter route and return schedule. Decide whether you want to travel in the morning or after the evening out, then price the room and transport together.
Prepared for winter 2026/27. Confirm mountain operations, winter buses and venue schedules before travel.
